India’s first decentralised solar photovoltaic rooftop power generation system in the industrial sector with a 2×100 kWp capacity was successfully commissioned over the weekend at Manesar and Daruhera on the outskirts of the Capital.
The renewable energy system was inaugurated by Deepak Gupta, Secretary in the Union Ministry for New and Renewable Energy, at Omax Autos, a major in manufacturing automobile parts, at their Manesar and Dharuhera facilities.
The system has been provided 30 per cent financial support by the Ministry and installed on a turnkey basis by Moserbaer Photovoltaic, according to an official release here.
Annual saving
The generated power is fed directly to the building level grid, avoiding the need for any battery back-up and maintenance. Each system is likely to result in an annual saving of around 40,000 litres of diesel with associated reduction of carbon dioxide emissions amounting to 2 million kg over a period of 20 years.
A unique feature of the system is synergistic working of solar, DG and grid power, with solar power whenever available getting first priority of consumption over power generated through DG.
Mr. Gupta said the Indian solar story was gathering speed and significant projects like these would help the country achieve the targets for off-grid solar power set in the National Solar Mission. By Sujay Mehdudia, The Hindu
