Burst The Bubble Of Stress?

STRESS IS a word that is often misunderstood, a term which is more in fashion now-a-days. So if you say I am stressed, you are making a quote that you are; ‘with the times’. But how many of you are really aware of what stress is in the first place.

The definitions can be many but in simple words, stress is experienced when mind and body are outside their comfort zone and are encountering challenges beyond your control. Which if you look at can be both positive and negative, as some amount of stress in your life is important to fuel you to extend your boundaries to go an extra mile towards achievement.

But on the other side, excess of it can slowly and gradually take a toll on you and interfere with your physical, emotional and mental well being. And not only hamper your health but your personal life too. So it is essential in the first place to understand and detect stress, and secondly enact upon to take control over it and try a few tips that might help you burst the bubble of stress.

Get constructive

Stress causes anxiety that increases blood flow in your body and produces more energy. The constructive use of this energy via a physical activity is a proven and an effective way to beat stress. Deep breathing, yoga, walking, dancing, painting, exercising or any form of physical activity that best works for you could be a good way to channelize your stress energy.

Prioritise and focus

Our present day life poses us with stack of work and responsibilities, pushing us into the habit of multitasking, which is good in a way, but only if prioritised and planned. To keep the stress out, know your priority and tackle each task in hand one by one. This will make your day more productive and help you take control over stress at work.

Take a second opinion

Resolving an issue alone might well be a stressful task. In problems related to work or personal life, share it with your trusted people around. Talking it out clears your system and helps you reflect and have a distant vision of the situation and also provides you a second perspective of looking at things.

Identify your limits

Know how much is too much; be aware of your physical and mental abilities. To stretch your limits is good, but remember excess of everything is bad. Also go easy on your expectations and concerns, like, some things are completely beyond your control, so put in your best and let all other things happen and gradually fall in place.

Indulge in yourself

In all the running around to meet several commitments, you might ignore yourself and feel lost. In such a case, do what makes you feel you. It could be a simple act of dressing yourself, taking a massage, going out for shopping, reading a book, writing a blog etc. Give yourself some quality time and space to feel at peace.

Happy hobby-ing

Continuous working hours that keep your mind entangled into multiple tasks and daily problems can make your work nothing but, ‘burden of boredom’. In such cases, comes into play the role of hobbies which act as breathers and recharge your levels of enjoyment, interests and enthusiasm. A hobby can be anything and everything that can help you forget the worldly worries and let your subconscious heal your stress levels. It often helps acquiring back your skills, knowledge and personal traits that make you stand apart from the crowd. And this brings realisation of self which further entails self fulfilment, thus making you happy!

Have a healthy diet

Long and erratic working hours might cost you your meal. You could end up starving or hogging the very next moment with the availability of food. Extremes are harmful, so make it a point to have small, regular balanced meals. Salads, fruits and at least eight glasses of water intake is must and one of the most recommended advice by health experts. CJ: Himani Gupta, Merinews
