How To Find Happiness In This Mortal World

In this mortal world, we are very busy with ourselves and hardly find any time to think about the people living around us. And it is not always possible to keep people around us happy because different people have different demands and expectations. Well, in some point finding happiness and being happy are entirely two different situations. True happiness, however, is not anything that can really be quantified or measured, as true happiness is something like having a peace of mind and being contented. Hence, the question How To Find Happiness in this mortal world we live in?

Nonetheless, by asking issues, like these, we begin to get a picture of our ultimate goal. The far more particular inquiries, the clearer the picture gets. Notice, this procedure should not be glossed more than or rushed, and it should certainly not be persuaded by a wish to please other people. The pursuit of anything other than the true objective, the end result is regret. Though one could infinitely be happy having with them the nature and family, a sound personal health, and all the man-made things, yet, there are still millions of people out there who are unhappy. Our mind has extra-ordinary powers and as far as happiness is concerned it has the ultimate power.

We should, therefore, have a positive attitude towards life. That instead of concentrating on bad things in life and people, we should therefore concentrate on redeeming features in them. Although there are people who are engaged in difficult tasks, and even incarcerated in prisons, yet, they are still very happy. Towards this, unless, otherwise, we are bound to recognize that happiness is within us, then and only then, we will begin to realize that we should not keep on thinking about past failures and bad experiences but be encouraged by our past success and good experiences. Better yet, don’t allow procrastination to hinder our journey.

Tweeting About Bad Day At Work Could Get You Fired

Employees who tweet or update their Facebook status saying “I had a bad day at work” could end up losing their jobs, a leading employment lawyer has claimed.

According to Paula Whelan, an employment partner at Shakespeare’s law firm, if an employee writes anything vaguely negative about their employer, including saying something as neutral as ‘I had a bad day at work’, bosses are well within their legal rights to sack the staff member.

“Employees think they are bullet-proof when they post anything on Facebook or Twitter. But if they bring their employer into disrepute, the boss of that firm is well within their legal right to sack them,” the Telegraph quoted Whelan as saying. [Read more...]

UN Says Syria Encouraged By Russia, China Veto

The UN human rights chief accused Syrian President Bashar Al Assad of launching an ‘indiscriminate attack’ on civilians to end pro-democracy protests and said he had been emboldened by the failure of the Security Council to condemn him.

Hours after the speech by UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay, Syrian troops resumed their bombardment of districts in the central city of Homs, making Tuesday the 10th day of shelling and sniper fire on the city.

Pillay told the 193-nation UN General Assembly the Feb. 4 veto by Russia and China of a draft Security Council resolution condemning the Syrian government and endorsing an Arab League plan for Assad to step aside had encouraged Damascus to intensify its attacks. [Read more...]

Valentine’s Day

Every 14th day of February is a special day celebrated by almost everybody especially those people who are madly in love with. It was once thought to be the time of year when birds began to mate and a chubby little love god called Cupid aimed his bows & arrows at the hearts of young men and women. Many people today believed that their future happiness was connected with valentine festivities.

It is believed to have had its beginning in a Roman festival called the Lupercalia. The early Roman men often pinned to their sleeves, the names of the girls who were to be their partners during the Lupercalia. Even today, we say that a man wears his heart on his sleeves when he shows his interest in a young lady. Sometimes the couple exchanged presents. Ladies often received perfumed gloves or fine jewels but after the Lupercalia became a saint’s day honoring St Valentine, some of the old customs were kept. It remained an important time for anyone looking for a mate. In the 17th century, a hopeful maiden ate a hard-boiled egg and pinned five bay leaves to her pillow before going to sleep on Valentine’s Eve. She believed this would make her dream of her future husband. [Read more...]

What To Do If Your Child Is Looking At Porn

Let’s be honest. Many children — especially post-pubescent boys — are interested in what we commonly call “porn.” You might not like the idea that some kids are looking at these images, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s a pretty common occurrence.

This column isn’t about young children or children who accidentally come across unwanted sexual material. Those are different issues. The question I want to explore is how a parent should react if they discover their growing child — typically 12 or older — is deliberately looking at sexually explicit material on the Internet.

Nothing new or unusual

First, recognize that there’s nothing new about teens looking at such material. [Read more...]
