Today’s world is enjoying a multitude of benefits from scientific discoveries, technological inventions, and creations. However, in the wake of such advances, values, attitudes, and lifestyles have changed causing frustrations and disillusionment. And as one grows into adulthood, they’ll have to face the challenge of the times as we are also faced with situations where we may have to take a position, to take a stand on an issue that may be trivial or of grave importance, every day of our lives. A situation concerning issues demands action, whether great or small, and whether what you choose to do is what is good, better or best.
Many times in our life, we will be faced with decisions to make. After probably graduating from high school, will you go on to college? Or will you opt to marry your girlfriend of many years who might be persuaded to marry a rival? Or will you grab the opportunity and seek career advice to work abroad and earn dollars? What makes a decision difficult is when both sides of the issue seem equally acceptable or unacceptable. Mind you guys, college are the greatest place in the world for those who ought to go and who go for the right reasons. The question is why then goes to college? Well obviously, it is the place to learn how to think and it should make a man manly.
Be that as it may, however, college education should rigorously train the intellect for the happiness of the individual and the salvation of the world. But after probably getting your desired college education, what’s next? Well, find a job is the most appropriate answer but anyone faced with the daunting task of finding their first job is likely to find themselves in a quandary of perplexing proportions. Their industry knowledge is limited and their contacts in the business world are few and far between. The good news is that a record number of jobs exist in the Middle East region for fresh college grads and with the roaring economies of the Persian Gulf and the emphasis on training, human resource development and growing from within, this is unlikely to abate soon.
In a nutshell, you will not sound very convincing to a prospective employer if you are not convinced yourself of your strengths and weaknesses and that you will be an asset to his team. Take the time to understand what types of job search interest you, what areas you enjoy and excel in and what skills/competencies you have that can translate in meaningful ways to the jobs you are applying for. Prepare an honest detailed personal inventory of your unique skills, strengths and weaknesses and use it to hone in on the industry, companies and positions you think you can do best in.
